Charity Governance

Like most pre-schools, Taunton Opportunity Group (TOG) is run by a committee of volunteers. The Board of Trustees are involved in the overall management of the charity; overseeing finances, staff employment and the running of TOG’s services. Our committee members are made up of former parents/carers and members from the wider community who have a passion for the work TOG does as an important provision for babies, toddlers and pre-school aged children with special educational needs. We welcome expressions of interest to join the committee.

The Board of Trustees meet a minimum of 3 times per year. In the autumn there is an Annual General Meeting where trustees report back to staff, volunteers and parents/carers on the management of the group over the previous year. TOG’s reporting year runs from 1 September to 31 August.

Kind Words

It would not be an overstatement to say TOG changed our family; until Ivy got her place we had not spent a day apart so it was a huge change relinquishing my care to TOG but it soon became clear I needn’t have worried. Ivy bonded so well with her key worker Mary and soon felt comfortable enough to approach and interact with the other staff and children. We saw big changes in her development and during her time there she formed lovely friendships with the other children and staff. Ivy is now at a special school but we miss coming to TOG and are forever grateful for the part it played in Ivy’s journey.
