Our Aims

  • To provide a quality provision for pre-school children with a wide range of special educational, medical and physical needs and where the interests of the children are at the centre of our work.
  •  To provide a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment where the children and their families feel relaxed and secure and find coming to Taunton Opportunity Group a rewarding experience.
  •  To be committed to ensuring that all the children have the chance to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic wellbeing.
  •  To be committed to all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage including the British values that run throughout it.
  •  To value and respect the fundamental role that parents, and carers play in their children’s development by welcoming parents and carers into TOG and working in partnership with them.
  •  To support families through times of anxiety by listening to their concerns and where possible by helping them to find the appropriate support. To signpost parents to the support that is available to them.
  •  To respect parents’ rights for confidentiality and to seek their consent before discussing their children with other professionals, unless this would compromise a child’s safety (i.e. safeguarding incidents).
  •  To provide early intervention for young children with special educational needs, helping to identify their needs, monitoring their progress and providing the appropriate support to them and their families, in line with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
  •  To be committed to Equal Opportunities for all our children and their families. To respond positively to the diverse needs of our families, including their family structure, culture, religious beliefs and disabilities.
  •  To value each child and to develop each child’s sense of self worth and esteem by developing positive relationships with the children and praising all their achievements.
  •  To promote good standards of behaviour by adults treating each other with respect and kindness, praising appropriate behaviour and by having clear expectations and boundaries that the children can follow.
  •  To plan and provide enriching play and learning experiences that are accessible for all the children whilst challenging their learning, using staff observations, following the children’s interests and information from parents/carers.
  •  To work closely with other professionals, valuing the contribution they make to the children’s development in our setting. To ensure the focus of inter professional working is family and child led.
  •  To be committed to an ongoing process of reflecting on and improving our practice.

Kind Words

Our son has thrived in TOG. It was his happy place. He received care and attention of the highest standard in a fun, safe and sensory learning environment. All play activities encouraged communication and interaction. His interests broadened and the outdoor play area was perfectly designed for his needs. He ran into TOG every morning. TOG has put him on the right path for transition into special school, we highly recommend TOG for any additional needs child.
